Kate took a casual and rustic, yet at the same time chic, approach to the design of this stunning lake house in Ontario cottage country. She used bright colours on the walls, floors and furnishings to bring in more light through the trees to this beautiful island retreat.
The Hudson’s Bay Company is an iconic Canadian institution, and Kate used the vintage HBC patterns in a contemporary way with the pillows and chairs in the yellow family room and guest bedroom. Also in the family room is Kate’s Heaven rug in hard-wearing flat-weave wool. This flat-weave rug easily withstands the constant action this room receives. The master bedroom features Kate’s Dig Deep area rug to warm the room and bring natures inspiration indoors. Kate used her all wool Maple Leaf rug to create a cosy and comfortable atmosphere in the more formal living room. The guest bedroom also features Kate’s Trellis rug and her Island Toile pattern has been turned into cushions for the chairs, which fits perfectly in this island cottage setting.
